A. Brief Descriptions:
Abscess: focal localized collections of purulent inflammatory tissue.
B. Gross Findings:
Easily confuse with malignant diseases; they can be ill-defined with overlying skin thickening, lymphadenopathy, and nipple retraction.
C. Micro Findings:
A central cavity fill with pus surround with inflamed breast parenchyma.
Inflammatory infiltration with involvement of gland buds and surrounding stroma with residual ducts.
Foamy histiocytes in regional dilated ducts.
D. Others:
Usually result from rupture of mammary ducts, often during lactation.
