《Slide 12.》Nodular hyperplasia, Prostate
A. Brief Descriptions:
Hyperplasia of prostate stromal and epithelial cells. (always in the periurethral region).
Common in male over 50 years old.
S/S : partial or complete obstruction of urethra.
B. Gross Findings:
Well-defined, variously sized nodules.
Cut surface: small nodules, spongy, gray and tough (stromal proliferation) to yellow and soft with milky white fluid oozing out (glandular hyperplasia).
C. Micro Findings:
Glandular proliferation or dilation, large acini with papillary infoldings (star shape).
Some acini lined with pale, columnar to cuboidal cells & small dark cells in deep layer (two-cell type).
D. Others:

Gland and stroma proliferation.
Large acini with papillary infoldings.
