《Slide 8.》Anthracosis, Lung
A. Brief Descriptions:
Deposition of coal (carbon) dust in the lung & lymph nodes.
Simple anthracosis resulting from smoking and urban living.
B. Gross Findings:
Focal black pigmentation scattered through the lung fields,most numerous in the upper zones of the upper and lower lobes.
C. Micro Findings:
Coal dust-filled macrophages located interstitially adjacent to bronchioles, pulmonary arteries, subpleurally and within hilar lymph nodes.
D. Others:
