A. Brief Descriptions:
From onset of hepatic insufficiency to the symptom of hepatic encephalopathy within 2 to 3 weeks.
Viral hepatitis in the main causes.
B. Gross Findings:
Acute massive necrosis or acute submassive necrosis.
C. Micro Findings:
Panacinar necrosis by:
extensive hepatocytes loss.
mixed tubules or neocholangioles: proliferation of duct-like structure around portal tracts, partly of bile-duct & partly of hepatocellular origin.
inflammatory-cell infiltration, mixed & variable in degree.
collapse of the reticular framework.
