Slide 121.Cardiac cirrhosis , Liver

A. Brief Descriptions

  1. Centrilobular fibrosis is so marked that makes nodules formation that fulfill the criteria for the diagnosis of cirrhosis.

  2. Cardiac sclerosis, complication of sustained chronic severe congestive heart failure with distinct fibrosis, mostly centrilobular.

B. Gross Findings

C. Micro Findings

  1. Zone 3 fibrosis in adjacent acini may link up or extend to connect with portal tracts.

  2. Few inflammatory cells in fibrous septi.

  3. Inconspicuous proliferation of bile ductules.

D. Others:

  1.  Cardiac fibrosis is an apt & frequently used term.

  2.  Compare with slide 24 cardiac congestion.
